Conjugate pairs are quite easy to identify — they are the same molecule, but the difference between them is 1 hydrogen atom.
Hence, ammonia and ammonium are a conjugate pair NH3/NH4+
Water and hydroxide ions — H2O/OH-
Sulfuric acid and hydrogen sulfide ions H2SO4/HSO4-
In your problem, HCO3- and CO3(2-) have a difference of what? 1 Hydrogen. They are a conjugate pair.
H2O and H3O+ have a difference of what? 1 Hydrogen again! Another conjugate pair.
